Travel, parking & roads

• Transport for NSW

  Public transport journeys, departures, service notices and monitored commuter car parks. Parking forecasts are estimates calculated by SydLocal from historical observations; they do not reserve a space.

  Transport for NSW information, accessed through TfNSW Open Data.

• TfNSW Opal fares and distance tables

  SydLocal uses the published Opal fare bands, transfer reductions and distance rules to show an estimated single-trip fare. Daily and weekly caps depend on a traveller’s earlier taps; airport station access fees are separate from those caps. Verify the amount with the official Trip Planner.

• Live Traffic NSW

  Road incidents, roadworks, major events and reported fire or flood impacts on roads. Road-flooding reports are separate from NSW SES flood warnings.

Fuel, charging locations & maps

• NSW FuelCheck

  Access to fuel pricing data is under negotiation with the NSW Government. You can check prices directly on NSW FuelCheck in the meantime. EV charging location data is available in SydLocal through OpenStreetMap.

• OpenStreetMap

  Map tiles, EV charging locations and service-station directory locations. SydLocal filters and groups locations for Greater Sydney. Mapping may be incomplete or out of date. EV charging prices and live charger availability are not supplied; check access and connector details with the operator.

• NSW Spatial Services & Australian Bureau of Statistics

  The suburb selector and Greater Sydney search area. SydLocal includes suburbs that intersect the regional boundary and uses representative suburb points for approximate distances.

• Google Maps

  Directions and map searches open in Google Maps, an external service. Google Maps does not supply the fuel prices shown in SydLocal.

Local alerts & observations

• NSW Rural Fire Service

  Reported incidents, warning areas, major fire and smoke advisories, district fire danger ratings and total fire bans. SydLocal filters and formats the published information. Open the original notice for current instructions and affected areas.

• Bureau of Meteorology

  NSW and ACT weather warning notices. Regional notices may cover areas outside your suburb; read the official warning for its full scope.

• NSW Air Quality

  Monitoring-station air quality readings. Recent readings receive preliminary checks and may be revised. SydLocal filters the readings by area; conditions at your address can differ.

• NASA FIRMS

  Satellite heat detections filtered by SydLocal for the search area. Detections are observations, not confirmed fire incidents or evacuation advice. Satellite passes, clouds and publication delays leave gaps.

• DEA Hotspots

  Himawari-9 satellite heat observations over Sydney and surrounds. Locations are approximate. DEA Hotspots must not be used for safety-of-life decisions.

• USGS Earthquake Hazards

  Recorded earthquake epicentres filtered by SydLocal for the search area. The area where shaking is felt can extend beyond the epicentre.

Wider fire context

• Global Fire Emissions Database (GFED)

  Australia-wide fire-emissions estimates, measured in tonnes of carbon. These are national background estimates, not Sydney smoke measurements, CO₂ tonnage or local warnings. Values may be revised.

  Source: GFED near-real-time beta country summaries. Seven-day totals and previous-year comparisons are calculated by SydLocal from published daily carbon estimates.

• Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS)

  A link to the official fire-weather forecast viewer. Forecast layers are viewed on GWIS and are not imported into SydLocal. Its indices are different from Australian Fire Danger Ratings.
